What it means to be a Music Composer

How to be a ComposerHey Friends, Mike here, and today I want to share a fun but true story with you, well a couple of stories actually. And they are all about being a music composer to the very core of your heart and soul. I am sure you will be able to relate to these stories. Are you ready?

True Story 1: I don’t have that much time to watch movies, neither in the cinema nor in my home. Because I actually work super hard on my business. However, every time I watch a movie that I love, which usually means Sci-Fi or Fantasy….straight after the ending of the movie, I run to my piano and pick out the theme. Basically I keep playing until I get it right. And then I play some more. I just have to get the music out.

True Story 2: I realized many years ago that to succeed in creating a music career, you need real dedication. So I actually spent an entire summer reading books on music composition, music theory, chords and harmony and much more…even when I was on vacation. As I rested there in the sun, my mind was elsewhere. Because I was deep into reading books, and thinking about chord progressions, harmony, scales and time signatures. This might sound a bit sad to some people, but those people probably don’t have the true soul of a composer and artist.

True Story 3: I am a real introvert. Which means I actually don’t like going out, or being around many people, or even meeting new people for that matter. That drains my energy. I love being at home, here in my studio. The upside of this is that it is easier for me to make some of the sacrifices necessary to pursuit my professional career in music. I don’t get out much, but I really don’t want to anyway.

Now ask yourself. How much true passion and hardcore dedication do you have for composing music? Because that’s really the simple recipe for success in any field. Wanting something really bad, and working for it hard year after year. What sacrifices have you made during the years you have worked to advance on your journey in music?

Finally I would like to ask for your help. I want to know what to focus on for my YouTube Channel. So I created a simple poll, where I want you to guide me by voting. Thank you so much for voting.
